Interested in volunteering?
Great! Without volunteers, VCC would not exist.
We are always in need of reliable volunteers.
If you are an animal lover and would like to help our local rescue cats, then contact us and join our team!
How you can help
Transport cats:
Almost every day, cats need to be driven to a vet appointment, placed in an adoption cage, or brought back to their foster home. If you have the available time and vehicle, transporting cats is highly valued help in our rescue mission.
Clean Adoption Cages:
The VCC has several adoption cages; one is at Pet Supermarket on the Venice Bypass, one at Pet Supermarket in North Port, and one at PetCo in Port Charlotte. There are always two cats in each cage for one week. After one week, the cats return to their foster home and another two cats get a week’s chance to be adopted. The adoption cages are solely maintained by the VCC and not the staff of the store. Cleaning an adoption cage consists of: scooping the litter box, filling food and water bowls, taking home and washing any soiled or dirty bedding, general clean-up of the inside of the cage. If there are any problems with the adoption cage or a cat in the cage that needs to be addressed, you would contact the designated volunteer that manages that particular adoption cage. While cleaning the adoption cage, you get to visit with the cats!
Computer / Administrative:
If you are very handy with a computer and are great at organizing, we need you! Contact us for what computer or administrative help we currently need.
Fostering:
A foster provides a loving home while their foster cat waits to be adopted. The number of fosters homes we have dictates how many cats we can save. If you have room in your heart and your home, please foster a rescue cat!
